Unaccompanied migrant minors, Tuscany region subscribes to
the European Charter of San Gimignano
The journey of the “Charter of San Gimignano for the Rights of the Unaccompanied Migrant Minors and Separated Children” moves forward having an unstoppable force. Tuscany Region officially announced its support to this tool that joins Civil Rights and Progress. The event took place during the San Gimignano’s Open Day’s City Council that unanimously approved its support as well. On 30 November 2017 the “European Charter of San Gimignano for the Rights of the Unaccompanied Migrant Minors and Separated Children” (www.cartadisangimignano.eu) Movement has been hosted by San Gimignano’s Municipality during the celebration for the Tuscany Region, in an Open Day’sCity Council in which two important events occurred.
At the event, after a discussion to take stock of the real conditions of the Unaccompanied Migrant Minors, beyond any fake news, , workshop dedicated to the “Charter” took place, in order to understand the previous and and the stages.
“Our endlessly commitment it is to preserve the Rights of the Unaccompanied Migrant Minors that, every year, more and more, come to Europe and that , in a great part, unfortunately, disappear or get into the hands of the Criminal Organisations”, Adriano Scarpelli president of Carretera Central, the No-profit Association that promotes the “European Charter of San Gimignano for the Rights of the Unaccompanied Migrant Minors and Separated Children”, said.
“We are in we don’t want to approve just a Regional Council formal resolution, but we would like to give our support to theCharter movement – Vittorio Bugli, Alderman of Tuscany Region, said – because great things are made of many small things”.
“It is important because we often underestimate this important issue but talking about it it during an Open Day’s City Council it means that we are in. We cannot pretend that the migrations don’t exist but the do – Vittorio Bugli said – there existed in the past and there will always do, they are a structural fact: so we we have to analize them ,doing what you are doing today , to strongly promote this idea. .”
The Alderman Bugli presented then the “Libro bianco sulle politiche di accoglienza e inclusione di richiedenti asilo politico e protezione internazionale della Regione Toscana” (The White book about the politics of reception and inclusion of asylum-seekers and international protection of the Region Tuscany).
In addition Giacomo Bassi, Mayor of San Gimignano, pointed out his satisfaction with the the Charter’s journey and with the Italian important and pioneering role in this field after Zampa’s law approval. The Mayor has assured the Municipality’s support and backing to this Civil Right related journey that have a great ethical and political meaning that is raising awareness all over Italy and Europe, joining City of San Gimignano reputation to this great idea.
